Thank goodness, I could see the flicker of a fire ahead of me. It might be the chaps, then again it might not.... I was ready to take that chance. It was so odd, when I walked into camp all I found were soldiers made of straw.

"WHy do the reports conflict?" Dred replied. "I'll tell you why. Jaek veiwed the encampment, took a qick survey of the situation, and left. I waited, got bored, and pelted one in the face with a stick to lure them out so I could pick them off. They didn't so much as twitch." Dred paused for a moment and pulled out a scalp of the only one that moved. "THis is what remains of the only guard. They rest are not alive, decoys... Make your decision soon, I'm going to check on my friend if you don't mind."
Dred promptly rose and headed to Skye's tent. There was not so much as a whisper of a breath within. "Will someone please tell me where she went?" He hissed menacingly and whirled around. "I recommend that someone answer me swiftly before I loose my TEMPER!" Fury rose within, at himself for trusting the guards as well as for the guards themselvesif she was hurt there would be hell to pay for them all.
*** Off in the distance, the spectre listened to the wail of spirits that had been corcered into a single form. It followed the spirit's wails, eager to serve its masters in hopes of a final rest.

Okay, so maybe I should turn back, that was my first thought as I looked at the bloody skull on the doorstep of the tent. I knelt beside it, it didn't apear to be human. ...and the smell. I covered my mouth with my sleave and looked around, no other structures, just more bloody straw soldiers. I took a deep breath, my hand on the mace in my purse, and stepped inside. A little...thing, a green lumpy thing slept on the floor beside the fire. It almost looked like some kinda animal, but not.
I cleared my throat and it spoke, much to my shock. As it looked over at me, I could tell it was also a bit shocked. It sprang up on its feet so quickly. I pulled the mace from my pocket and sprayed it right in the eyes as it came at me with some kind of sharpened stick.
It stopped where it was, and released a scream so loud and earpeircing that I was sure everything in a ten mile radius heard it. I backed out of the tent, leaving that little begger to roll around in the dirt.

"Decoys?" Rynak replied his mind, though well adapted to staying up late was getting very tired from days without sleep. Once it did register he called out to the rest of the soldiers, "Wake up soldiers! We're moving out now, the camp is unmanned."
Slowly the soldiers began waking up. They were used to waking up in the middle of the night and going straight to work, it was a side effect of working the night shift with Rynak, always sleep lightly. They immediately began gathering their armor and weapons for the attack. Before preparations were complete though Dred came back furious and announced that Skye had vanished.
All the members of the group looked up stunned and confused. Liam took a step toward the tent to see for himself, before Rynak held a hand out for all of them to stop. "I'll look into this. The rest of you finish getting ready."
Reluctantly the guards continued equiping as Rynak surveyed the ground around Skye's tent, looking for any clue of what had happened. He found it soon after he began looking, a light footprint left by a light person's feet, obviously Skye's. "Here!" He called to Dred and pointed out, "Looks to me like she slipped out the back on her own. Perhaps to find her Lundun."
Rynak traveled back around the tent to the rest of the guards and announced, "Change of plans guys. We have to find Miss Skye before something else out there does." The guards nodded and mounted up their horses. Rynak held a hand out to Dred to get him up on a horse and the group set off on the trail Skye left with Rynak tracking.
Skye's path was confused, and at times difficult to follow, but it followed a path roughly parrallel to their own direction of travel, and after a bit of traveling Rynak's instincts told him he was getting close to the bandit camp itself, and he began to fear for Skye. As he was thinking this a scream pierced the calm of the night, not human. Rynak turned towards it and kicked his horse into a gallop, and soon saw exactly what he was afraid to find Skye leading him too, the bandit camp.
As they closed on the camp Rynak shouted, "Attack!" and reached up to grab a hold on his axe handle. As he drew the weapon the rest of the guards likewise drew weapons, mostly a similar style of axe. The horses thundered down upon the fake sentries, destroying them simply out of caution and surrounding the central hut.
******************
Squinch didn't know what had hit him, but it must have been some kind of acid or spell. He was going to die right here on this pile of gold! He rolled in the dirt until he managed to find his feet, and then he began staggering to the door, whiping furiously at his eyes. He ended up falling out the door after that human or whatever it was had sprayed him. He blinked a few more times and got a blurry image of the girl in front of him. He pointed his spear forward, this human was gonna pay for the spell she put on him.
Then he noticed the thundering noise around him and the spear lowered as he looked around trying to see farther than four feet away. A second later he saw big shapes all around him and weapons were lowered into his face, as they pinned him against the wall. He didn't know what to do but drop his spear onto the ground.
(OoC: Next up the interrogation phase, yay!)

I yelled at the little bastard, "How do you like that? Raising a weapon against me huh? A little mace cooled his heals."
All of the chaps looked at me like I was mad. I walked outside, happy to see the boys, but a little disappointed. This place was dangerous, that meant I had to stay with these guys until I found home.
Dred walked to my side and I said, "Sorry 'bout that Dred. I took a bit of a walk, found a little monster out here. Bloody thing tried to kill me."
I smiled to myself as I finished, "He's in that tent lookin' thing if you wanna piece of him."

(Ooc: sorry it's a peice of crap, but I don't have much time)
Dred sighed and set a hand on her shoulder, "Please don't do that again Skye. They held me responsible." he lied. Dred didn't want her to grow attatched, in case of the rare opportunity a better opportunity came around. Dred needed to keep moving on, no matter how much pay he could get from the lords of Naost. Beo would come sooner or later, but in the meantime...
"I'll take you up on your offer though with much enthusiasm," he said with a slight grin. Striding off to the tent where it was being held captive, he had every intention of picking its pockets and brains with a bronze fist.

I felt a little bad. It was my fault I wandered off. Maybe I'd tell the General that after they got finished with that thing. I didn't really want to be alone so I went and found Liam.
He hugged me with a relieved sigh.
He asked, "What were you doing? You could have gotten yourself killed."
I said, "I'm sorry, I just want to get home is all. My mum, I'm all she's got."
He nodded, "Alright, I'm gonna ask Commander Rynak if I can take you on to Lundun tonight."
I smiled, charmingly, and answered, "Thank you Liam."
He smiled as well, getting red around the ears again.

Dred was the first to reach Squinch, but Rynak was close on his heels and made very sure that Dred didn't kill the green blob too quickly. Rynak placed one hand on Dred's shoulder to indicate that he would like to take the first part, but as he passed he whispered, "Dred, do me a favor and look as intimidating as possible."
"Do you speak human?" Rynak demanded of the goblin, who still scratched at his eyes.
"Shes a-curs'd me!" He pointed in the general direction of Skye, but his point was a good foot to the left.
"It will wear off. You oughta worry about me, and this fella here who'd like nothing more than to see you dead." As he said this Rynak pressed the goblin back against the hut with his axe.
While he was unable to see very well Squinch certainly could guess what the object on his chest was, and his eyes grew wide with fear (which didn't work so well with the mace, and induced another fit of eye rubbing).
"Now listen we're hunting some bandits who stole some important things-" Rynak began
Clearly jumpy Squinch immediately responded, "Crown's is not here!"
"Actually I never said anything about a crown." Rynak grinned down at the goblin who became more and more horrified by the second. "So this tells me that while the crown isn't here, you know exactly where it is, and I bet I know you know where the real bandits are."
"They head south yesterday, head to southy-town. Ria say there buyer there, lotsa golds." Squinch eagerly explained.
"Iah," Rynak announced, then he moved to action, "Jaek, figure out what the heck we're gonna do with this guy, Fil go check out that hut. Tsean get me a heading to Iah. Liam get the horses watered quick, we're gonna have to ride fast." The group dispersed to their tasks immediately.
They were short tasks especially for Fil who after poking his head into the hut announced, "They've got a stash in here Rynak! There's a pile of gold. What're we going to do with it?"
(OoC: Figured I'd let you guys respond now. Axle if you want to kinda take over control of Liam go for it, he's kinda transformed into your character. I might use him here and there, but he is kinda yours.)

Rynak left the tent, I suppose to let Dred have a piece of the beastie. My heart pounded as I approached him. I wanted to help Skye out, but I knew my post was here. I cleared my throat behind him and said, "Miss Skye would like very much to go home sir. I wouldn't not object to escorting her myself." He turned to face me and answered,.... Okay, Oracle, your turn.

(Ooc: Sorry it took so dang long, and that I still didn't get a very good post in . I've been really fricken busy as of late.) Dred remained silent but intimidating during the brief interrogation, he'd have his turn later. Rynak left and ordered Tsean to 'figure out' what to do with the pitiful wretch before them. Dred knew what to do, and he wanted to do it without getting taken captive himself. The little cretin was going to tell a little more, whether there was more to tell or not. Dred just wanted the crown, for no other reason but to destroy it. Tsean left after a minute, probably to get away from the goblin's rancid stink. After he sure they were a safe distance away, Dred knealt down close to the creature which shied away. "I'll make you a deal ya little pregnant dog," he sighed. "Tell me who has the crown, and how many are guarding it." When the goblin failed to reply immediately Dred took one of it's hand gently with his cold ones. "Tell me now, please." He decided keep it polite for now. If the group was too big for the guard to handle, he'd go and check with the goblin. If it lied about he size and it was fewer, he'd call on the guards and leave them to thier business. If there were many... well, the guards were disposable. Liam flashed through his mind and he couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. He suppressed the emotions the best he could but Skye had an unnerving effect on him. Dred wasn't sure that he liked it, but curiosity... Keep focused on the job at hand, and beat the nuts out the little sucker if he doesn't cooperate.

I didn't like this place. There were all sorts of beasties running about in these forests. Still, they probably weren't as frightening as the bums who hung around Brighton late-night.
She wasn't even sure if this was all real. Maybe she had bonked her head and was safe in some all night clinic. Maybe this was her brain's way of coping. Still as she watched Liam and thought of Dred, she hoped not.
Maybe they were real, maybe this place was unreal. Maybe they were stuck just as she was. She still wondered about that man on the bus. If this was real....
Liam jogged over to her and said, "He's busy, the General. I'll ask him later."
I nodded, "Thanks Liam."
He said, "We'll get you home though, I promise Skye."
I smiled, "You're sweet."
He asked, "How did you get here anyway?"
I sighed, "One moment I was on this bus. The one I usually take home, next thing I know this chap sits down beside me. He starts talking. For a while he just seemed like a dude with interest, then he started getting all creepy. He grabbed my wrist, next thing I know I'm waking up in a forest."
He asked, "What did this man look like?"
I shrugged, "White guy, dark headed, dark eyed, in a suit. I thought he was just a businessman who'd found himself without a car. It happens back home."
He looked at me oddly and I nodded, "Don't know what a car is, gotcha. I suppose bus kinda goes over your head too."
He smiled, "I am trying."
I patted his shoulder, "I know Liam. Thank you."
He said, "We could try to find this man. If he brought you here, maybe he could send you back."
I chuckled, "I was just thinking that myself."

(OoC: Oh my goodness guys, so sorry. It was one of those things where you read it, and you're in a hurry so you don't respond, but then you never come back to it, because it isn't lit up, and yeah...)
BiC:
"Well looks to me like it weighs a bit too much to carry even on horseback." Rynak pointed out to Fil.
"But split up on five horses, there can't be too much weight there." Fil reached a hand into the pile and picked up a few coins, letting them slide back out of his fingers. "Are we just going to leave it here?"
During their discussion Liam approached and asked his question, and while Rynak pretended to wave him off and not hear. He was aware of Liam's question, but personally he didn't want to acknowledge that they could not help the girl at this time.
Liam left and Rynak eventually concluded his discussion with Fil, "Yes, we're leaving it. We'll close up the hut and stop back here on the return trip to collect the gold to put back into public circulation." That settled the two strode back out into the sunlight to get Tsean's report on their bearing.
********
The spooky man was well spooky and now he wanted to know more. Squinch did not understand, he thought he had said everything he could about Ria. So he restated it, "I tell you, Ria has crown. The gang go take crown, not know how many in gang." He stuttered for a bit and finally added, "It more than this many." Then held up all the fingers on his right hand, all 4 of them.

Dred stared it in the eyes, debating. Rynak said he knew where the treasure was headed. The goblin may have lied, but that was unlikely, and who/what was Ria anyway? (Ooc: couldn't remeber if it was mentioned earlier)
He decided that for now, he would let it live without harming it himself. As he stood and left the tent, clear soothing notes were spinning through his head... he never heard these since... the more Dred thought, the softer they became, but nonetheless beautiful. Shuddering, he shuffled towards the hut and leaned against it, steadying himself. Nothing mattered at the moment. Not money, not blood, not wondering where he was going to run to next. Not about the crown. Not about his fear, anger or hunger. His eyes flickered as slumber creeped over him like the changing of tides of the ocean. Slowly. Steadily. Undeterrable.
In his final lucid moments, his gaze ultimately fell on Skye. Right then, he decided to swear to protect her, and to help her live a joyful life... Unconsciousness came before he could utter the words. He couldn't keep it easily. The coforting verses deadened his limbs and thoughts, while his nightmares awakened like a pit of vipers as the breaths of fate eclipsed his soul.

I noticed Dred staring at me as he sat down beside the tent. I suppose he was tired. I went to go sit beside him, but Liam grabbed my arm.
He shook his head, "Let him be."
I asked, "What's wrong?"
He answered, "His kind..."
As Dred is your character, I'll let you finish that sentence, Genesis.
