Have you ever tried writing something decent (RP or not) when you're falling asleep at the computer? I wasn't sure it would even come out coherently... I'm about to post now, though. I've caught up on some sleep.
Welcome back, Axle!

Actually I generally don't get the chance to write except when I'm falling asleep. Nonetheless, my point was I always thought of RPing as a way to wake up the writing spirit, as apposed to something that required it. Besides which Saphire, I'm sure whatever you post will put me to shame. EDIT: I just remembered a somewhat large problem. I'm leaving for Peru on Tuesday, which means my posts will be sporadic and possibly even rare over the next two weeks, so I'm afraid I might have to ask you all to be patient, but lets see what we can get in during that time.

Falling asleep as in "I've only had six hours of sleep per night for about a week and spend the majority of my time awake on my feet" or just regular falling asleep, Oracle? Because I was the former on Friday night. Work is killing me slowly. Lol. But yeah, either way... I couldn't write. Now I can. So I posted. I think patience is something we all do fairly well here. You're going to help at Casa Hogar, right?

Hehe, well not quite that. Always with the one-ups Saphire. Eh you're a college student, you are more experienced in the ways of the world anyways.
Yes I am going down to Casa Hogar Orphanage.

That sounds like a great experience. Are you going with a church or aid organization?

That's really great, oracle. Have a awesome trip!
One question, whenever you can get to it: I don't quite understand the god-modding thing. For example, I obviously can't make Genesis's character do something, but could I talk to, say, a shop owner and have him talk back? Or do we need to wait for you for any NPC interaction?
I had a lot of time to write over the weekend trip to Indiana, so here's the finished post:
Name: Wren Kinvale Race: Human Age: 17 Gender: Male Appearance: Average height, kinda skinny. Mid-length, straight, brown-blonde hair. Pale blue eyes. Tries not to stand out too much, so clothes would probably be standard farm gear, I guess.
Personality: Nervous, doesn't trust others easily, struggles with fear and feeling inadequate compared to the others. Sometimes angry because he feels unable to deal with the situation.
Background: Trying not to copy other character's stories, I'm thinking he was born on another island, far from Naost. (You said there were lots of goblins, trolls, etc., right?) He lived on a relatively normal farm with his parents, taken by goblin slavers while hunting. I figure they could have brought him to Naost and he somehow escaped, and for now has no way of making it back to his home. However, I'm not sure why he joins up with the other players. So what do you think?
Primary weapon: Wren carries a stone about the size of an apple as a memento of home, but he doesn't know that it contains a mid-power fire rune. (Or something else, if fire's used too much already.) Secondary: A dagger/throwing knife he'd originally planned to use for hunting. He's not strongly skilled with it, so maybe his fighting skills could be centered around magic. Other: able to ride horses, swim, track animals or groups of people fairly well.
Really, anything that needs to be changed can be. Starting so late, I dunno exactly how you could put Wren into the story, but it's fine if you change a lot of stuff.

Spectre: I see nothing wrong with the bio (other than it sounds like you're fairly indecisive ) It doesn't really violate any rules. I mean captured by goblins is a little tricky, yes they could and do do that, but personally I might want to consider a race a little more powerful like orcs or trolls or that rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, well maybe not the last one. The fire rune touch I like, nobody has a rune yet. Let me provide a little early explanation of the runes, and I think you'll find it fits quite well. A rune would have some marking on it to indicate it. Perhaps the marking is hard to see though. To use a rune a person has to first "attune" themselves to it. It could easily be explained that the reason you feel connected to this rune is that the character is attuned and doesn't know it. If he is attuned, but doesn't really know any spells it is difficult for him to make use of it, and thus he doesn't know he is attuned. Yet another thing that he might find out on the road. Now about getting involved, if you're on Naost with nowhere else to go the paths generally lead only to a few places, Iah being one of the larger places so it makes sense for you to be there. The docks is the main source of income for people in Iah due to fishing, unlike Nia (where it is merchant trade). Therefore you could conceivably be near the docks when the fight starts and could react from there. If we give you say... the ability to sail, maybe we say you learned how to fish in order to eat while in Iah. You just post your surprised character at seeing the brawl, and eventually I can do the rest. The godmodding in my opinion refers to a few things and I would use these rules to determine what you can and can't godmod. If its another players you can't touch it. If I am the person who created the character (Rynak, The King, Ishana for instance) then you cannot touch them. If you created the character you may control them (your shopkeeper for instance), but do not create characters that give you hints or opinions on the main plot (I may have plans after all). Ones that offer help with character development or personal plots are fine. Even tampering with the main plot, with my permission though, is fine, maybe even encouraged. Genesis: I would assume there are bards in Arcecia, as a profession sort of thing. Nothing particularily mystical about them, just people who wander around telling stories or playing music. (Though that isn't to say there aren't some who can use magic, or who can fight with the best warriors.)

Not terribly important, but does rune magic have to stem from the rune itself? For instance, could my character later conjure fire by having the stone nearby, or does the fire come directly from the stone?

The way I see it rune magic is through two parts, 1) the rune itself, and 2) the energy of the person its attuned to. So yes you have to be in contact because you are the energy source and the direction for the rune to use its powers.

Sorry, guys, I've been off on a missions trip, so here's Adrian's profile.
Adrian “Star-Song” Arthur
Race: human
Age: seventeen
Appearance: - height: shorter than average person -fit, but not battle-honed -meticulous, single braid (or pony-tail)of brown-red hair, about shoulder length - sturdy travel clothes -charcoal robe with black silk trim, with many pockets on inside
Equipment/items in possession: -small, one handed war hammer -thick knife (with which to eat) - moderate light rune (I’m not having Dred have one anymore) - cherry-wood flute - metal quill pen, inkwell, and several scrolls of parchment (blank and written on ones (music, hedge magic, poetry, journal, ect.,) -small metal flask of honey and a separate one for water
Magic -knows how to use runes -limited necromancy experience -likes doing things with hedge magic
Personality: -curious -polite -soft spoken -Proud of his music - confident in nonviolent situations -very intelligent when not stressed -forgiving -fiercely loyal to those whom he calls ‘friend’ -spontaneous
Deity -serves a god(ess) of music and has incorporated the god(ess) of shadow into his worship (you know the names oracle, so if you could fill them in, that’d be great)
Background: several years before, his mother came to the cult that Dred had once been a part of, to chronicle and record what went on; successes, failures, great acts, and general documenting. With his father fighting the he pirates at Havenford, he was left to be raised by various mages, necromancers, and artisans that had become part of the cult. Already musically inclined, he became intrigued by the god(ess) of shadow, and thus his music became intertwined with the the art of the dead. Often his tunes are somber and haunting, but every now and then, a necromancer would show him him a brighter side to death. Seeing that Adrian wanted to learn how to commune with the dead, his mother asked Kamen to teach her son. Kamen agreed, though he did try to prevent the duty from falling upon him by putting Adrian with their ‘intelligence’ (necromancers who communed with the dead, from whom they gained their news from far places, discovered rare and magical artifacts, and occasionally hired by an outside power), but when Dred went renegade, Kamen was chosen to go with Beo, and Kaman brought Adrian along with, in part to enhance his magical abilities, and to use Adrain’s unique talent to be able to calm down Beo on a moonlight night. Adrian went, partially disappointed to leave the enclave and it‘s library, but curious to see more of the world and spread his music to new lands. Him and Beo are on friendly terms, though Adrain is still wary of him. Beo and Kamen (and others) often call him Star-Song or Skull-Song.
I can't post more tonight with Dred, guys, I'm wiped. Hopefully I'll get him there tomorrow. (by the way, who are the wounded living of the guards?)

Let's see, not really sure what hedge magic is, but I feel like I mentioned that on Dred too. Be careful with the necromancy stuff. Light rune with basic skill in it probably means that he's just able to make objects glow when its dark for the moment. Light is not the easiest thing to make able to hurt someone.
As for which deity's you have... I'd say it depends on whether or not he is part of a cult of chaos or not. Cults of chaos are generally formed around the goal of essentially just destroying stuff, usually dominated by chaotic creatures like broo, ogres, ect. (The guards recently fought an ogre, it was the "human") Undead cults could be chaotic, or not doesn't really matter. As for the music part of it, I know of one, but I don't have a name for it. I just know its title is The Moon Maiden.
Oh and the guards, Jaek was killed, Fil wounded and thrown into the ocean after which he was salvaged kinda off-screen by Liam and Tsean. Rynak is still fine as well.

Well, I envisioned this cult as devoted to knowledge. Having said that, there is a sect that uses the knowledge for destructive purposes, whether to gain certain items, money, or resources that the main body of mages need, or for personal gain. To test/examine new spells or creatures, many towns and islands have been used as testing grounds, usually not ending well for the population of said town or island. Adrian is somewhere in the middle, he's participated in the testing and discovering as an aid. He's killed no people in violence, but has participated in the euthanasia of extremely sick and dieing men. Adrian is not chaotic, and most of the cult is not (though some members are). So whatever deities come to mind...
