Ah, I added an 'Other' section in the Novels. Yeah, I think that's a good idea. I've added 'Other' sections to Short Stories and Poems, too. Haha, thanks, I thought it was fitting. I actually copied the descriptions from a genre site. Trip down memory lane...I love it when you read something you wrote and you don't remember writing it. Happens to me a lot. Hmm, let me fix that. Tada, you should be able to register now.

If you'd waited to make the new one, I could have told you that I have access to the admin account here. If I'd known you weren't happy with the site, I could have experimented with it, tried to make it more visually appealing. Ah, well. Too late now, I guess. I would also have suggested a name change. "The Literature Club" is all very well, but I've never actually been thrilled with that title - it was chosen by the people who originally created this forum. Assuming everyone felt the same, we could have come up with something more creative, something that says more about what we actually are - a group of writers as well as readers. Also, to me, at least, "literature" implies publication, and I'm pretty sure none of us have published any novels recently. The one thing I'm very concerned about is this talk of transferring writing to the new forum. I'm sure you have the best intentions, and you may not even be considering what I'm worried about, but I still feel like I should point this out. Absolutely nothing should be transferred without the author's consent. People have posted their writing here in the trust that it won't be taken anywhere else, and we have to respect that. Anything transferred should be taken from one forum to the other by the author, and no one else. If that means it doesn't get transferred, then it doesn't get transferred. The new forum will just have to start smaller than this one is currently. Again, you may not have intended that to happen anyway, but I wanted to be sure.

I am so sorry. That was not my intention at all. I was thinking we could individually transfer our own writing.
Sapphire, I can give you the skin to the new forum to put on here if you want. I didn't realize. Again, I am so sorry.
Coming up with a new name is a great idea. I think we can still do that. Maybe there's some way to change the name of this one?

I figured you hadn't intended to transfer it all yourself. Again, just wanted to be sure. Now that I've had more time to think about it, a fresh start might be a good idea. We have a lot posted here, and quite a bit of it was posted by people who aren't here anymore. With a new forum, we'd have less "clutter" (for lack of a better word). There's already a link to this forum on the new one, so if any new members are interested in reading the older stuff, they can always come here. But if people would prefer we keep this forum, I'm fine with that, too, and I can put up the new skin. As for a new name, I was thinking something kinda creative and clever, but I have no idea what it could be.

I'm fine with staying here or moving to the new forum. I think this site has a lot of history, or, I suppose 'clutter'. But as you said, we can always link back here from the new forum. Either way is good. Haha, the first thing that came to my mind was 'Writers' R Us' I'll try to brainstorm better ideas.

Yup, sapphire, it's all transferring our own works.
History is good, but is intimidating to new members... and a little too much history unnerves me personally. If we don't care about new members much, then whatever. I honestly don't care too much.
I'll help with brainstorming a new name... eventually. Right now I'm a little preoccupied with food.

That's a good point, Genesis... As much we need to look like an active forum to any new members, it can be intimidating, trying to get into a very much established group.
Okay, so... As to a new name, I looked up some quotes online for ideas.
The Echo - "I would hurl words into this darkness and wait for an echo, and if an echo sounded, no matter how faintly, I would send other words to tell, to march, to fight, to create a sense of hunger for life that gnaws in us all." ~Richard Wright, American Hunger, 1977 (Though this quote is obscure enough that the name isn't clear without the quote. I liked it because we provide inspiration for each other.)
Something from a Tolkien quote: "Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate And though I oft have passed them by A day will come at last when I Shall take the hidden paths that run West of the Moon, East of the Sun."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." ~J.R.R. Tolkien
Or we could use a literary term, or an acronym, or something.

Wow that quote is amazing. I think "The Echo" would be a really unique name, but I think a subtitle like "A literary/writing forum" would help clarify what we are. Oh! "All that is gold does not glitter," reminded me of a poem about how nothing gold lasts forever. Ack, I don't remember the title of it. But it was about how the gold evening sun, gold summer, gold nature stuff don't last. I don't know how that could be a forum name, but I really like that poem. I looked for synonyms of 'write', 'literary' and such, but I didn't really find anything that interesting other than maybe 'inscribe'? And then I looked at synonyms for 'inspire': spark, awaken, kindle, ignite are some of my favorites. I think something simple, like just one word, would be clean and, well, simple. To be honest, I really like "The Echo". I think it's original and subtle. If we put that quote on the site I think new members could then glean the meaning of it. Or just think it's a really cool quote.

Agh. What exactly is an activation code? I could make the profile, but I couldn't log in. It said it could send the code I need to enter to my email; but I used my school email cause I don't have a home one, and I can't use the school email address here at home.
Edit: Now I can't do anything, it seems. I just get sent back to the 'activation code' screen. I probably messed it up somehow, but do you guys know what's going on?

If we end up with "The Echo," we could put that quote under the month and just have that one, instead of changing the quote monthly as I've been doing here. I think a subtitle would help, as well. If you remember the name of that poem, Endovia, let me know. I love the poem by Tolkien, so I'm definitely up for reading something similar. I agree that a simple name would be best, for sure. Too many words and it just gets too complicated. Spectre, you need the activation code, for sure... You definitely can't get into school email at home? I used to be able to... Have you looked for a way to change your email address so you can get a code somewhere else?

Yeah, that's a good idea. Though I really enjoy the monthly quotes and the little pictures. If we used "The Echo" I could put a section under the header image with the quote in it, and then we could keep the monthly quote on the side. Yes!! "Nothing Gold Can Stay" www.poemhunter.com/poem/nothing-gold-can-stay/ Haha, yes it does. I think something like "Spark: A literture/writing forum" would be nice and simple. Spectre, when you make it account you have to 'activate' it by entering the activation code that you receive from the email you put in when you register. I think the purpose of it is to make sure you're human and not some robot. If you want, I can disable the account activation until you're able to access your email.

Ah, Robert Frost. Yeah, his poetry tends to be good. That would also work, for the quotes. There are also two places for quotes right now, so one could be a monthly thing and the other could be the echo quote, if we choose that name.

Spectre, go to the CFSD homepage: cfsd.chipfalls.k12.wi.us//high/Go to student resources. Then Student email. Type in your username and password and it should let you in. I too like the echo quote as long as we have a subtitle under it defining it as a room full of authors Love those poems.

Ahahahahaaha! I have DONE it! My account on the new site has come to LIFE!
Thanks, guys. Seriously, I was really lost.
I think 'The Echo' is pretty awesome, and it kinda reflects how we bounce ideas around and help each other out, like you guys already said.

Lol, glad you got that sorted out Spectre. Yeah, I think 'The Echo' is really quite perfect. As for a subtitle? 'A literature forum', 'A writing forum', 'A writers' forum', 'A something here forum/place/site'? As for changing the name, I've looked into it and it is possible to change the url of an existing forum, but proboards charges a flat fee of $10 to do that. So, we can keep the url the same and simply put 'The Echo' on the head banner and forum title. Then it'll be called 'The Echo' it's just the url won't say that and will stay theliteratureclub.proboards.comOr we can make a new forum with a different url. I'm fine with moving the skin and making the boards again, that's not a problem for me. However, are you guys okay with making new accounts again? And we'll need to find a url that's not already taken, if we do decide to do that. So, some taken urls that I've looked at: theecho.proboards.comecho.proboards.comechoforum.proboards.comSome available urls: echowriting.proboards.comtheechoforum.proboards.comtheecholiterature.proboards.comecholiterature.proboards.comechowriters.proboards.comechowritingforum.proboards.comAnd another idea if we do want to create a new forum is if we want to stay with proboards or use another forum host like invisionfree? In my opinion, proboards is simpler and more user and admin friendly. Invisionfree does the same stuff it just makes it neater, like the Inbox for PMs (haha, I first put PMS ) is organized and has different categories and folders, which is all very well, but I don't think it's necessarily necessary. However, we could try it if you want or we can stay with good ol' proboards.
