*shudder* That's disturbing. Just... Really. Lol.
Since we're bringing up random things, I got to see Lion King on Broadway today! (Well, yesterday, at this point, but you know what I mean.) It was so incredible. I was tearing up in awe at the first scene. I also got this epic painting of the NYC skyline in front of part of the solar system. I watched the guy create it with spray paint and newspaper and random lids. It took him about ten minutes (might have been less, really), and it looks completely amazing. When I'm convinced it's dry, I'll probably take a picture of it and put it up here so you guys can see. It only cost me $15 (probably a lot considering the cost of spray paint, but it's worth it). I love Manhattan...

That's awesome! I've kinda always wanted to see that show; what's the first scene?
Can't wait to see the painting!

The first scene is "The Circle of Life" with Simba's presentation to the animals. They have them come down the aisles in the theater - birds and gazelle and a couple of giraffes, a couple of elephants. It's completely amazing. Another scene they staged really well was the stampede where Mufasa was killed. I can't even describe it... It's like the stampede is coming at the audience, and you're almost a little scared, they do it so well.

You're kidding, right? That was spray paint and newspaper... in 10 minutes? That's awesome.

I know, right? And there's a bunch of guys who sit around Times Square and make painting after painting like that.
Oh, hey, funny story. Heh. I was getting lunch in Manhattan the other day with a friend, and we went to this deli/pizza place. Apparently the guy who rung up our meals knew we were from out of town because we smiled at him and were nice. He asked where we were from, and I told him Wisconsin, and he recognized the name because of the Packers having won the Super Bowl. He mentioned his surprise that cheeseheads are made of foam, not plastic.

He knew you weren't from New York because you were nice? Is the whole state always angry or something?

Well, no one is nice to strangers. You know how in the midwest, people will smile at or greet each other on the street, even if they don't know each other? You don't make eye contact in NYC. You get really weird looks if you do.

You know what that suddenly made me think of? This is very random, but in elementary school, we had to read this story called Maniac McGee. This kid- nobody knew where he came from- just ran wherever he needed to go, and made sure to say 'Hi' to everyone he saw. He got the same as you guys; really weird looks.

Haha... I've heard of that book. Never read it, though. I'm kinda used to the "don't make eye contact with strangers" thing at this point. It's rather difficult to meet new people, but I don't particularly want to talk to most of the people I see on the subway, anyway.

I guess I shouldn't even go to New York then... I'd get mugged. It's nice that no one talks on subways though... nice and quiet, eh, Spectre?

Because you're friendly? Nah, you'd just get a lot of "wait, do I know you?" or "who's THAT guy?" looks. It's kinda fun, actually.

You'd fit right in, then. Honestly, it really is a cool city. I love living here.
