My mum bought me a book for Xmas last year. It was called Private Peaceful and was written by Michael Morpurgo. I love Micheal Morpurgo, ever since I read his book The Butterfly Lion when I was a kid. He is an incredibly talented writer and draws you in everytime. His books make you laugh one minute and cry the next. Anyway, Private Peaceful is an amazing book. It's set during the first world war and is so poignent. I actually got so angry while reading it, knowing that the things that happen in the book actually happened to people in WW1. I won't go into detail incase anyone wants to read it, but suffice to say it was moving, emotional, funny and heartbreaking. I'd recommend it to anyone. I had tears in my eyes as I finished it, and my boyfriend had to give me a hug and dry my eyes before I really started blubbing. LOLZ!

Sounds like a good book, if depressing. I'd never heard of it (or the author) before, but I'll be sure to keep a lookout for it.
