Some of you may recall that this past summer I was in search for my first "horse" Now of course I've rode and shown pretty much everything from a Trakkhener, to a Thoroughbred, Quarter Horses, Arabians, and quite a few mutts, and that I've always had a pony. Okay so I was probably MIA for this segment of my life but.......anyways I will explain
It was boiling down to two mares.
Sierra Grand Mesa, who I call Adara, a red roan overo APHA Registered mare with one blue eye. Four years old and barely rode. She belonged to my dad's Buddy/ Co-worker/ Boss, and the guy had been wanting me to buy her for 3 years. Price? $500. She was relatively close to our place also, so we would barely have to leave the county to go get her.
And then Pocos Last Trick, AKA Trixie. A Dun 2 YO AQHA registered filly with VERY nice lines, including Poco Bueno. NFQHA and FQHA eligible. She is 86% Foundation bred. Her Mama was a Dun and Pops a Grulla, so she had the Dun factor out the whazoo (Meaning is bred the possibility for a Grulla or Dun colored horse is high). Very sweet. Hardly any work. She also belonged to a friend.....in IOWA! Asking price? $1,750 make an offer.
Dad ended up and bought me Adara for my Birthday. Made sense right? She was cheaper, closer, from Dad's Boss. But man, that little Dun! Ahh everything has worked out great, I am truly in love with this mare, and I plan to train her in Reining.
Here's a picture at her first show ever, we just did Halter and Showmanship:
(Mind you she's not set-up an her head is all crazy lol but it was her first time)
