Guys I think my house is haunted. I'm the last one awake and I keep hearing walking. I know it isn't just in my head because my dogs are sitting here beside me and they seem to hear it too. I tried turning up the music, but every time I do it just gets louder. Any ideas? You ladies and gents wouldn't happen to have a spare gallon of Holy water would you? I already checked for burglars, nada. It's really starting to freak me out. (I've got strep, again. This is like the fourth time this year. So I can't swallow, can't talk, isn't that brilliant? I was supposed to go to a Christmas thing with my band tomorrow, but unfortunately....if I can't talk I can't sing.)

Well if you're still there then thank goodness. I have this happen alot, but for me its always due to my house being a really old house. Which incidentally I bet would be a very good burglar defense, you take a step anywhere in my house you can hear it anywhere else. When I shift in bed it sounds a lot like someone walking around upstairs, freaks me out every time.
(That stinks, 4 times? Maybe its not your house, maybe those ghosts are hanging around in your throat. That's a scary thought if I ever heard one.)

Yep, used to hear footsteps all the time too. As long as things aren't getting flipped down for no apparent reason, you sould be fine (happened a few years ago, home alone, heard a crashing downstairs and came down to find the wieght set flipped over.)
Four times? dang. sometimes we wish strep was a virus eh? hope you get better soon.

It's awful, the strep I mean, I'm not the type of girl to hang about the house and I can't go anywhere when I get like this. My band mates brought me some food this morning, but I can't eat. They really are the most wonderful fellows I know. Angel's in the kitchen doing my dishes and Erynn is vacuuming. I don't know where Gregory is.... (hopefully the blimey ghost didn't get him) They all told me to relax and they'd take care of the house chores.
As for the ghost, (I call him Will), it opens cupboards, steals things from around the house and knocks on the doors at random times of night. The house I'm living in now (my friend Lyndsey's, its a long story) is not that old. I just really don't know what to do. No one else under this roof seems to want to know what's going on. They don't believe in ghosts.

Ugh, four times? I'm so sorry... Hope you feel better soon!
As for your lovely little ghost... That is creepy. I used to live in an old house, so it made sounds all the time. We just moved to a newer one, and I still hear sounds occasionally. I think all houses make a little noise. Could it be your dogs that open cupboards and such? And you said the walking sound got louder when you turned up your music... Any possible way it was coming from the stereo or ipod or whatever you were using?

No because when I turned it off it would continue. The darn thing is messing with me. I have three dogs, a border collie mix called Jack-Livingstone, a Pomeranian called Buffy, and a Redbone Coonhound called Bogart, none of them are tall enough to be opening the cupboards that I am having especial trouble with. It's just very odd, because you'll hear voices late at night too when you're alone. It's not just me saying that either. It's really, really odd.

Not quite sure if I'm dead on with the instrumental line, but I think I'm close.

Lol, Oracle. Maybe you could get some earplugs or something so you don't hear the noises? And for the cupboards you could try just taping the shut. As for the wlaking noises, putting some sort of rug on the floor would dampen the noise a little, depenging on what type of floor it is. The rug won't help much with wood cause you'll still hear the creak, but for tile it'll help.

Now really Endovia, you might just make the ghost mad.
Maybe it really likes making noise and it wants its music heard, and you're coming up with all these ways to disrupt its toys.
I bet the ghost just wants a hug. It probably hasn't been hugged in a long time... being incorporial and all.

That would be a huge disadvantage to being a ghost. After a while, you probably really need a hug. Maybe you could pretend to hug it? I'm sure it would appreciate the effort.

The weird thing is, it's all carpet. The bloody thing was humming last night. Nearly scared me to death. I asked him nicely not to wake the kids and if he wanted to sing, he could at music tim.e
