Ok, so I'm currently writing my first novel. I have never done so before. My novel will eventually be a trilogy, but I am only on the first book so far. What I would like to know is, roughly how long do you think each chapter should be, ideally? I am aiming for about 300-400 pages for the first insallment, but I'm not sure what number of pages should make up each chapter..... I was thinking that maybe 15-20 is the usual amount of pages, but I was wondering if anyone had a better idea.
(FYI, my book is going to be a sort of young adult/adult mild horror/fantasy/romance/ adventure book(LOL! Yeah, there's a lot of genres going on! LOL!), kinda like Harry Potter or Twilight, only with a little more swearing occasionally.)

Thank you for moving it. I don't think there is a "usual amount" of pages in a chapter... It depends on the writer, the writing style. Charles D-ickens, for example, has very short chapters, while other authors have longer ones. I don't even divide my writing into chapters right away - I just let it flow. I'll divide it later. Really, I think it's up to you and how the story is working.

Yeah, it doesn't matter how long the chapters are. You can do it however you want.
