OMG! I have just started writting my book (which currently has no name) and I have tons of ideas! Me and my friend were bouncin em around the other week like we were playing dodgeball! We have the whole thing planned out, I just can't for the life of me put it into words! I have never suffered writers block so badly in my life! Its insane! All these wonderful ideas that will add up to at least two books, if not three, and I can't even start writting it! The few pages I have written sound like a kid writting it! There is no drive in it! Nothing to make you wanna read, and I know that I can do that! I've done it loads of times before, but the one story I feel could be good enough to actually try and get published once its finished, is the one I just can't seem to cure my writers block for! Does anyone here have any tried and tested ways to cure it? Anything at all! Even a chant or something! LOL! I juat wanna get rid of it and start being able to get my ideas down in a coherent way! Any help at all will be forever appreciated!

Ah, that is a problem. One thing: Even if it sounds bad, write it down. Just get it out there - you can fix it up later. There are also several tips for curing writers' block under the last topic in the help section, Curing Writers' Block. Lol. I think you'll find the ideas there useful.

okay writers block.... Saphire says act it out. You'll have to let her explain this lol. It works though, I've done it. My prefered way though, is just to take a short break. Just set aside this important story and write something else for awhile. Like when I wrote this one novel of mine, I got stuck and had to write a few short stories just to get my mind off things. Sometimes we just need to relax and not overthing our stories so much. Just write a short little emotional piece just to change up your routine a little bit. I might have to do that soon myself. I have this short story that just came to mind recently (based on real events). How do you write btw? Do you control the characters or do the characters control you? Sounds silly, right? But really, my characters control me. Majorly, lol. Sometimes I'll be forcing my characters to do something and they just sit there, screaming "nooooo" because they know it's not the right decision. Listen to your characters. What would they do if they were real? Would a shy, conservitive girl go to a party and get drunk? Instead of trying to get her to that party, maybe let her stay at home and have the party unintentially come to her? See, instead of doing something out of character, she stays herself, and therefor, easier to write. Hope this helps

I don't know about you guys but I have to be in the mood to write. If I'm happy I write better. If I'm frustrated, I break the pencil. If I'm mad, I scream into a pillow. It depends a lot on my mood if I m going to be able to write a happy scene or not.

Yeah, being in a writing mood definitely helps... And listening to the characters is key to a good story. Acting it out helps immensely... Just pick a character to be (probably the main character) and go to a place where you can be alone. Start a little before the point you got stuck and act it out. Actually move as the characters do and say what they say. Don't worry about exact wording if you've already written the scene - I often find that what I say spur-of-the-moment sounds better than what I have down on the paper. Really put yourself in the place of the character. Don't be thinking about what comes next - just do what seems natural. It helps me so much.

i know how you feel! i finally get a break from school, absolutely NO obligations, can write any day, all day for the passed week and 1/2... i have hardly written anything because I have in my head what happens after this part in the story, but not what's happening now. this block is killing me slowly.

Ah, I hate it when that happens. You finally have time to write... And you can't. The same thing is happening to me right now... I think it will go away soon, though, because I was talking to a friend, and she gave me a cool idea for Duskblade.
